Digital investigation

I don't know if you heard about it or not but US government has asked Twitter to hand over data concerning WikiLeaks activists, you may say how on earth they can do such thing ?? well it comes out that they have the right to do so, Twitter and other social networking sites are not allowed to disclose our information but there are conditions under which they can (actually have to) release your data, in fact you should think of it as you go to a club regularly and the cops want to investigate you, it is their full right to go in there and ask if any one knows your phone number or address and no one would say this is not right , well it is the same thing, they have the right to take any data on any social networking site.
I guess that means we should REALLY read the privacy of every site we use :D

Law and Harm: We may disclose your information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security or technical issues; or to protect Twitter's rights or property.
       Quoted from Twitter's privacy policy.

Do you think our digital information should have more protection ?
